01Bandhu Social Welfare Society (BSWS) has completed  a four day training session from 11-14 May, 2015, on HIV and Human Rights for emergent CBOs and in-country downstream partners in Bangladesh. This training is conducted under the Multi Country South Asia Global Fund HIV program (MSA-910-GO2-H) which is supported by the Global Fund to fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. In Bangladesh, BSWS serves as the sub-recipient of the grant. The training took place at project management office, Shivananda Hall, Maghbazar, Dhaka. Overall course objective:

At the end of the training, the participants will be able to explain and analyze the basic concept of counseling, psychosocial & psychosexual counseling, types of counseling, counseling process, counseling methods, counseling tools & techniques in order to address the MSM/Hijra.

Specific objective:

After end of the course the participants will be able to

  • Explain the concept of counseling
  • Identify the types of counseling
  • Explain the basics of  STI,HIV and AIDS
  • Identify the goals and objectives of counseling
  • Describe the process of peer counseling regarding HIV/AIDS issues.
  • Analyze the effective methods and techniques of counseling
  • Tell the qualities and skills of a good counselor
  • Discuss the psychosocial & psychosexual counseling
  • Explain how to facilitate counseling session
  • Tell the principles and ethics of counseling
  • Discuss the one to one,  group information giving and couple counseling

 A total number of 31 percipients from 20emergent CBOs and in country downstream partners attended in the training.
