Award Giving Ceremony 2019
At a high profile award giving ceremony was hosted by Bandhu Social Welfare Society at Hotel Amari, Gulshan 2,Dhaka on 26th June 2019. Over the last two decades, Bandhu has reached many milestones with cordial and unconditional support of different stakeholders. With a view to recognize their contributions and to sincerely appreciate their initiatives Bandhu organized this award ceremony.
The event started with the opening speech from Mr. Anisul Islam Hero, Chairperson of Bandhu Social Welfare Society. He welcomed everyone in the event with a thanks for their contribution.
Ten people were awarded for their special contribution in different sectors. They are; Poly Hijra, President, Diner Alo Hijra Sangho, Rajshahi ; Bidhan Tripura PPM (Bar), AIG (Land and Estate), Bangladesh Police ; Denim Expert Ltd., Chattogram; Robaet Ferdous, Professor, Department of MSS Communication and Journalism, University of Dhaka; Professor Dr. Ratan Siddique, Distinguished educator and dramatist; Professor Dr. Md Shamiul Islam, Director, MBDC & Line Director, TBL-ASP, DGHS; National Legal Aid and Services Organization (NILASO); Channel I, Dhaka, Bangladesh; Ain o Shalish Kendra (ASK), A legal right and human rights organization; Kabirul Islam Ratan, Dance Director and Choreographer. Chief Guest and special guests distributed the awards to the awardees. All the awardees shared their note of thanks and their feelings for receiving this award.
H.E. Earl R. Miller U.S. Ambassador of Bangladesh graced the program as chief guest. “For the young people in the audience today, this world full of crime and violence is yours. You should make it a peaceful and equal place for all.” – said the Chief Guest. He also shared his expectation that whenever we will see injustice we should do something about that rather than not choose to be silent.
H. E Julia Niblett, High Commissioner, Australian High Commission in Bangladesh said, from the experience from Australia she knows that protecting rights is a tough journey. The works Bandhu does is vitally important. She suggested that all should work together including media and other sectors to reach the goal. “We Australia are very proud of the work of Bandhu’s work and I want to salute your courage and all the developments.” – She added.
H. E. Winnie Estrup Peterson, Ambassador.Royal Danish Embassy in Bangladesh said – “We must leave no one behind. We must work together and develop agenda. Civil society organization like Bandhu is playing important and courageous role.”
At the End Executive Director of Bandhu Social Welfare Society ended the programme with a vote of thanks.
The media award ended with a dance performance of a community dance group, “Essence of Soul.”
