Various Day Observation by Bandhu
In 2018, Bandhu observed different days including Transgender Day, World Human Rights Day and Mental Health Day. The broader objective of the day observations was to create mass awareness towards community.
The Transgender Day, also known as the International Transgender Day of Remembrance was observed in November 20, 2018. The specific objectives of the event were to create awareness and remember those Hijra and Transgender population who gave up their noteworthy contribution for the community as well as society.
In 2018, Bandhu designed the programs differently and decentralized the activity in 7 divisional cities including Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Barishal, Rongpur , Khulna, Mymensingh and demonstrated a rally in collaboration with local partners. More than 500 participants including some government officials, journalist, lawyers, students, police, and community representative took part in the event.
Bandhu Social Welfare Society celebrated World Human Rights Day on 10 December, 2018 through various activities i.e workshop, seminar, rally etc. The major objectives of the day were to create social awareness towards World Human Rights Day ensuring human rights of our Beneficiaries. A total of 162 participants attended the rally in different cities along with workshop.
World Mental Health Day was observed highlighting the tagline ‘Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World’ on 09-10 October, 2018. Bandhu also participated the Mental Health Fair, organized by Clinical Psychology department, University of Dhaka. Bandhu set up a booth there to provide Psychosocial supports and distributed related IEC/BCC materials to the beneficiaries. A daylong seminar titled ‘Sustainable Psycho-Social Support for Displaced Rohingyas in Crisis” and a colorful rally was also arranged as a part of mental health day celebration.
