UntitledA day long orientation program with govt. physicians was held on 14th February 2018 at Civil Surgeon Office-Cox’s Bazar. The respected civil Surgeon, deputy civil surgeon, residential medical officer, upazila health and family planning officers were there. The programs were started with the welcome speech of Dr. A Salam, civil surgeon, Cox’s Bazar. He facilitated the introduction session and briefly shared the objective of the session. He also mentioned the role of Gov. Physicians irrespective of gender, caste, religion and occupation. Dr. Salam mentioned that ensuring stigma and discrimination free medical services are essential to reduce HIV burden and for this Bandhu has taken initiatives to introduce daylong orientation program. The CS also thanked Bandhu for this daylong program especially organizes at Cox’s Bazar while the ration of HIV is high amongst Rohingya. 20 UHFPO participants also thanked Bandhu Social Welfare Society for this time appropriate initiatives.

 The Expected outcomes of the event were:

  • Government Health Care Service Providers especially Upzilla Health & Family Planning Officers (UHFPO) are aware about the risks and vulnerabilities of MARP and their health needs.
  • Network established with the UHFPO where gender diversity community received support and refered for health related different services.
  • Hijra people visited doctors without hesitation and received friendly and stigma free treatment.
